During the webinar, Rose shared insights from three Vineland-led research projects advancing IPM strategies in Ontario greenhouse crops. She started off her presentation highlighting emerging challenges associated with thrips species identification and management Close encounters: Improving greenhouse IPM outcomes through experience-based learning. She then discussed two projects, Mistaken identity: the hidden threat of onion thrips to greenhouse floriculture IPM programs, and Development of biological control tactics for use in an IPM program for multiple thrips species in Ontario greenhouse crops, showcasing practical approaches to improving biological control effectiveness against different thrips species.
Rose’s participation reflects Vineland’s thought leadership in applied research that supports sustainable, science-based pest management solutions for the greenhouse sector.
This research is funded by the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance, a collaboration between the Government of Ontario and the University of Guelph.
