Background
Vineland Research and Innovation Centre undertook a sweet potato variety development initiative aimed at breeding and selecting new varieties to better meet the needs of Canadian farmers. Focused on early maturing varieties with high root quality, yield and consumer preferred taste, Vineland sweet potatoes reduce the risk of growing this crop for Canadian growers and present an opportunity to have domestically grown sweet potatoes on grocery store shelves in time for the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday.
