Native trees enhance resiliency of Heartland Forest canopy

They’re only frail little saplings – part of ongoing studies at Vineland into plant stress before being donated – now fighting to survive among all manner of plants eager to choke them out and hungry deer eyeing them for dessert, but more than 50 little trees now planted at Heartland Forest will some day be playing a big part in enhancing the forest’s resilience and providing nourishment for important insects such as pollinators.
