Reporting to the Manager of Building Operations, the Senior Maintenance Technician is dedicated to the safe operation and maintenance of Vineland building facilities and associated equipment. Working within a small team, the Senior Maintenance Technician role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities such as diagnosing and repairing equipment, plumbing, electrical work, general building maintenance, as well as maintaining HVAC system controls and components.

The Senior Maintenance Technician will possess experience in building maintenance, showcasing a skill set in handling various technical tasks. Strong customer service skills are essential, as the role often demands interaction with other Vineland employees and external contractors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment: Follow and contribute to a regular maintenance schedule to prolong the lifespan of equipment and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
  • Monitor and maintain Building Conditions and HVAC: Perform routine inspections, ensure correct set points and temperatures are maintained, addressing any discrepancies promptly to achieve a comfortable environment and energy efficiency.
  • Maintain inventory, supplies, materials, and equipment for Building Operations by managing and tracking inventory levels as directed by the Manager
  • Monitor external contractors to guarantee adherence to safety protocols and standards, ensuring a hazard-free work environment.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of utilities maps, floorplans and blueprints for all Vineland buildings in accordance with the Asset Management Policy.
  • Participate in standby duty system and be available to address emergency call-ins such as building-related emergencies or equipment failures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years in facilities maintenance, demonstrating hands-on expertise in maintaining and overseeing building operations.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Utilities Systems Operations; Manufacturing Engineering; Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Techniques; or related discipline.
  • Recognized trade certification or courses by Skilled Trades Ontario in electrical or plumbing, or other technical areas such as building automation systems.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s License.
  • Skilled in building operating systems, with demonstrated experience in overseeing different stages of minor repairs and renovations, ensuring that all systems function efficiently and effectively.
  • Must possess a good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, chillers and compressors.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, coupled with a keen attention to detail.
  • Awareness of Building and Fire Codes; Occupational Health and Safety Act; and various Legislation associated with building operations.
