Reporting to the Director, Business and Client Development (BCD) with a dotted line for corporate communications strategy to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Advisor Communications & Marketing is responsible for supporting, developing and implementing business communications and marketing activities as well as corporate communications and brand strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supporting Vineland’s President and CEO, the Senior Advisor maintains Vineland’s brand integrity and strategically positioning Vineland as a trusted source for research and innovation for the horticulture industry, including:
    • Supporting the development of a corporate communications strategy in alignment with Vineland’s corporate strategy.
    • Providing advice and support to the CEO and Senior Management Team on issues related to branding, marketing, communications and emergency preparedness and response processes.
    • Interfacing with Provincial and Federal Government communications teams for approval of public information and news releases.
  • Supporting Vineland’s Director Business and Client Development (BCD), the Senior Advisor develops goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute a comprehensive and cohesive marketing plan for Vineland’s research and innovation programs, capabilities, and outcomes by.
    • Supporting the development and implementation of external communication plans and marketing strategies to support business activities and ensures consistency in key messages and brand identity.
    • Collaborating with BCD and R&D teams to generate content that can be pushed through local, national and international media streams to build the brand and enhance Vineland’s reputation

Qualifications

What we need from you…

  • University degree in Public Relations, marketing and/or Communications.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional communication and marketing experience
  • Experience in agriculture/horticulture is preferred.
  • Professional accreditation in Public Relations or other communications-based professional organization is an asset.
  • Excellent working knowledge of communications and marketing principles, tactics, and tools with strong strategic, analytic and creative judgment skills.
  • Knowledge of science/innovation media.
  • Advanced understanding of social media and web communications, including web content management skills.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple initiatives at once.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate internal company relationships.
