At Vineland, we treat intellectual property (IP) as an important asset that belongs to us, our clients, or our stakeholders.

We take care to manage and protect it responsibly. Protecting IP is often key to making sure it can be used in the future and developed into real-world products and solutions.

Vineland’s main focus is research and innovation, but we also work to make sure our results benefit the public. Sometimes sharing research findings is enough. More often, we protect our intellectual property so others can invest in developing, commercializing, and delivering new products and processes for people to use.

Vineland has established a policy for the management of IP that:

  • Promotes, preserves, encourages and assists scientific investigation and research in horticulture.

  • Facilitates the transfer of technology from Vineland to industry in order that research conducted at Vineland results in applications that would benefit the public.

  • Establishes standards for determining the rights and obligations of both Vineland and its inventors, with respect to inventions and discoveries created at Vineland.

IP Management

Within Vineland’s overall strategic direction, we operate a robust and comprehensive commercialization and intellectual property management practice to address all Vinelands’ and our 3rd Party managed intellectual property. This includes:

Creating and protecting new intellectual property generated through Vineland’s own research projects.

Ensuring outside intellectual property is handled responsibly and used appropriately within our work.

Maximizing the value of intellectual property by supporting its use, protection, and commercialization.
