We offer a broad suite of testing and analytical services, helping our clients to find a cause and solution to many product and production challenges.

When you work with us, we provide rapid and accurate results in addition to thorough interpretation of your results. We work in partnership with clients across the world to provide custom solutions to their unique needs and make testing and validation a satisfying experience.

Our Validation, Testing and Analytical Services include:

  • Soil testing and analysis

Our Soil Testing and Analysis services provide the key information needed to build soil function that supports plant survival, establishment and growth. We present your results in a Soil Health Report which provides the data and information needed to understand soil function with clear characterization of soil physical, chemical, biological and hydrological features and detailed management recommendations to help build and maintain soil health.

  • Trait development and genomics services

Vineland’s patent-protected technology is Deep Variant Scanning (DVS), enables clients to harness the power of reverse genetics for trait development and crop improvement. Our service is cost-effective and suited to any crops including polyploid species, species with large genomes and outcrossing/heterozygous species.

  • Metabolomic analysis

We specialize in comprehensive metabolite profiling of plants, microbes, soil and environmental samples. Vineland’s highly trained staff with expertise in analytical and organic chemistry, mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and biotechnology provides support from experimental design to the translation of complex metabolic data to empower you with relevant, accurate, meaningful results to deliver solutions tailored to your requirements and goals.

  • Plant Variety Evaluation

We can do multi-site evaluations to test your product’s consistency in different growing zones and locations or in varying environmental conditions.

  • Product Registration in Canada

Are you planning on registering a product with Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA)?  Vineland can conduct the scientific evaluations necessary for the registration package. This includes antimicrobials, biopesticides and conventional products.

  • Sensory profile and consumer acceptance evaluations

We work directly with consumers to determine preferences relating to taste, texture or aesthetics of your product. In addition, We leverage Vineland’s trained sensory panel to create flavour profiles for each product to further define preferences and enable your product development goals.

  • Technology validation

Vineland now offers a comprehensive technology validation service tailored for the horticultural industry. Our validation studies are a systematic and thorough assessment of the performance, reliability and feasibility of a particular technology or innovation. We test the technology under realistic conditions to validate its claims and assess its potential for implementation. A successful study delivers objective and empirical evidence on the effectiveness, safety and suitability of the technology for its intended use. A validation study offers insights into the strengths, limitations and potential improvements of the technology, enabling informed decision-making regarding its adoption, investment and/or further development.

  • Substrate testing and analysis

Our experts have experience with many substrates such as mineral fibres, mineral granulates, synthetic fibres, wood fibres as well as peat products, potting soils, and composts. Our services include phytotoxicity assessments, information on moisture characteristics, durability of the product and substrate air and water release curves. Lastly, we can also perform growth analyses by providing a range of growth tests, increasing in costs and duration, to assess the growth potential over several weeks up to a year or longer. We are also able to help inform irrigation planning.
